Shizuoka University and Hamamatsu University School of Medicine are co-educational courses "Collaboration in Biomedical Engineering" with the aim of fostering highly specialized human resources in biomedical engineering who are familiar with the field of biomedical engineering based on optical technology, making the best use of their respective strengths and characteristics. Major (3rd year doctoral course) ”will be established in April 2018.
"Joint Department of Photomedical Engineering" is the world's most advanced research field of both universities, such as sensing technology and imaging technology of Shizuoka University, biometric information signal acquisition technology, innovative medical technology of Hamamatsu University School of Medicine and development of new medical equipment. It is also characterized by fusing research results at the student / faculty / research level to develop an educational course.
At the graduate school where the two universities jointly organize and implement the curriculum, advanced education and research guidance in the field of opto-medical engineering will be provided. The enrollment capacity is planned to be 5 from Shizuoka University and 3 from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, and 8 full-time faculty members from Shizuoka University and 7 from Hamamatsu University School of Medicine.
In addition, by making the Research Institute of Electronics of Shizuoka University, the Research Center for Optical Creation Innovation, the Research Center for Optical Tip Medical Education and Research at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine, and the Hamamatsu Next Generation Optical and Health Medical Industry Creation Center as joint research sites. , It will be possible to enjoy personnel exchanges and technical guidance with researchers at companies.
The selection method for enrollees in the "Joint Major in Photo-Biomedical Engineering" will be announced on the websites of both universities in September 2017.
