On November 2017, 11, under the plan of Yamaha Corporation, 22 people from the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Pakistan, Iran, and Lebanon, who belong to ministries and institutions involved in music education, and 16 of Yamaha Corporation's UAE local subsidiary. Named staff members visited Yokohama National University.
The purpose of this visit is to observe the case of Japan in music education in elementary and secondary education, which is not yet widespread in the Middle East.In the morning, we visited the music class centered on the recorders of Yokohama National University and Yokohama Junior High School, and in the afternoon, we visited the class of Professor Masafumi Ogawa of the Faculty of Education of our university.
In the educational methodologies class for second-year undergraduate students taught by Professor Ogawa, you will observe regular classes that incorporate various playing techniques such as clapping, singing, body percussion, and recorders.Scenes where students perform melody improvisation in order by singing while using hand signs that express the scale with hand movements, and scenes where each group plays rhythm with body percussion such as applause, whistle, voice, finger snapping, and thigh tapping. Then, the members of the inspection team were able to take interesting videos and see what kind of music they were using by going near the students.
During the Q & A session after class, Japanese members asked questions about the purpose and goals of music education in primary and secondary education, the goals of music education at Yokohama National University, and how to evaluate the curriculum.
