On September 9, JR East, All Japan Air Transport, Hitachi, Microsoft Japan, etc. established the NPO "Public Transportation Open Data Council" and started full-scale activities.
Open data is a so-called data version of public infrastructure that exposes APIs for accessing highly public data and makes it available to other organizations' systems via networks.
At present, when providing services using data, it is said that it is difficult to meet a wide variety of needs due to the high development cost of the method of developing a system and providing services by one company (organization). Therefore, the "Public Transportation Open Data Council" established this time has made it easier to develop apps for smartphones such as arrival and departure guidance by unifying the data formats such as operation information that each company publishes independently.Creating an environment where the developed apps can be easily provided, and making it easier for many users such as foreigners and people with disabilities to refer to the operation information of various transportation systems with a view to the 1 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Is one of the purposes.
Through this council led by Mr. Sakamura, we aim to provide information suitable for the international city of Tokyo.
