The government's Town, People, and Work Creation Headquarters has compiled the application guidelines for university student convection promotion projects in the regions and the Tokyo area that will be implemented in FY2018.This is a project in which multiple universities in the region and the Tokyo area collaborate to support projects that promote credit transfer and mutual exchange with subsidies. Applications will be accepted in March and the selection results will be notified in May.

According to the Town, People, and Work Creation Headquarters, the project not only allows students in the Tokyo area to experience the charm of the region and trigger local migration by interacting with students in the region and the Tokyo area, but also students in the region. The aim is to increase the attractiveness of local universities and increase their enrollment by giving them the opportunity to study in the Tokyo area.

You can apply for national, public and private universities, including junior colleges, and accept applications from universities that play a central role in the project. The subsidy grant period is two years. The standard amount will be 2 million yen for universities that play a central role and 2,300 million yen for one collaborative university, and will be increased up to 1 million yen each time the number of participating universities increases.

In the 2000 years from 2015 to 15, the youth population (15-29 years old) in rural areas has recorded a significant decrease of 3 million, which is about 532%.On the other hand, the number of over-migrants to the Tokyo area reached about 2017 in 12, and the concentration of young people in Tokyo is accelerating.Of these, the number of over-migrants at the time of entering university is about 7.
In order to overcome this, the government has announced a policy to curb the expansion of new universities in the 23 wards of Tokyo and promote local universities, and this project will be part of that.
