Meiji University announced that it will implement two reforms at the Law School (Graduate School of Law) from April 2018, including reducing the enrollment capacity.
Meiji University Law School (Graduate School of Law) was established in April 2004.Since then, it has produced about 4 graduates, of whom about 1700 have passed the bar examination, and the cumulative number of successful applicants has been ranked 800th out of 74 schools nationwide. However, looking at the passing rate of the bar examination in recent years, the severe situation continues, with 7 at 2016% (overall average 12.12%) and 22.95 at 2017% (overall average 11.67%).
In response to this situation, we will implement two reforms to improve the pass rate. The first point is that the enrollment capacity of the law school has been changed from 2 to 120.While ensuring the quality of new students, we will narrow down the curriculum and thoroughly implement "individualized education."
The second point is to integrate the law school into a professional graduate school as a "graduate school of legal affairs".Build a foundation for collaboration with the three existing graduate schools of professional graduate schools (Graduate School of Governance, Graduate School of Global Business, and Graduate School of Accounting Professionals) and promote diversification of professional graduate school education.
Through this reform, we aim to further enhance legal profession education, thoroughly implement "individualized education," and improve the passing rate of the bar examination.
