 The Tottori Sand Dunes Lunar Surface Demonstration Field aims to become a base for interaction among domestic and foreign companies and researchers engaged in the development of the Tottori Sand Dunes on the moon in Tottori Prefecture, which is promoting efforts to create a space industry. It is being maintained as part of the Tottori Sand Dunes Lunarization Project.The location is on the premises of the Arid Land Research Center of Tottori University (outside the national park), with an area of ​​about 0.5 hectares.The sand in the Tottori Sand Dunes (outside the national park) is used as it is, and there is a flat zone, a slope zone (about 5 degrees to 20 degrees), and a free design zone (users It was designed based on the voices of potential users in the field, such as by configuring it with free excavation and construction.

 The "Tottori Sand Dunes Lunar Demonstration Field" will be completed at the end of June 2023, and an opening event will be held in July.Prior to completion, we are currently recruiting nicknames for this demonstration field.The application period is from May 6 (Wednesday) to June 7 (Sunday).Anyone from inside or outside the prefecture can apply, and one person can apply for more than one.Apply from the dedicated website.The nickname will be announced in mid-July.

 The Arid Land Research Center of Tottori University is located on the west side of the Tottori Sand Dunes, and was originally a sand dune utilization research facility attached to the Faculty of Agriculture.In 1990, the name was changed to the Arid Land Research Center in order to apply the wisdom and technology gained from sand dune research to international issues.It has been certified as a “Joint Usage/Research Center” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and is a nationwide base for arid land science research.On the site of about 1 square kilometer, there is an excellent research environment such as a research building, various analysis equipment, and a device that reproduces the weather conditions of a dry land. There is also a field that protects the coastal plant ecosystem.In addition, there is an exhibition room that introduces the results of research to date, nature and people's lives in drylands, and a large semicircular greenhouse (Arido Dome) that collects useful plants in drylands.
