On October 2023, 10, Kindai University held an "Electric Scooter Safety Seminar" for students, faculty and staff at the Higashiosaka Campus in cooperation with the Fuse Police Station.
Kindai University views its vast campus as a "virtual urban space" and provides it as a place for the social implementation of next-generation technologies, thereby contributing to the practical application of new technologies and providing students with an opportunity to be early exposed to new social initiatives. In order to provide this, we are actively working to attract demonstration experiments.
In anticipation of the expansion of the use of electric scooters, we have been collaborating with Luup Co., Ltd. since 2020 to conduct a demonstration experiment on a paid sharing service for electric scooters at the Higashiosaka campus. At the time, it was Japan's first attempt to conduct a demonstration experiment of electric scooters on a university campus in the form of a ``paid'' and ``sharing service.''
In July 2023, regulations related to the revised Road Traffic Act regarding specified small motorized bicycles (electric scooters) will be enforced, and electric scooters that meet certain requirements such as maximum speed in terms of performance are classified as specified small motorized bicycles. New traffic rules have been applied, and anyone over the age of 7 can now drive on public roads.
In response to this, we held an "Electric Scooter Safety Seminar" under the guidance of police officers so that students can correctly understand the traffic rules to follow when using them for transportation in daily life or commuting to school and ride safely. did. After the participants received a lecture on traffic rules and their place in traffic regulations, they took part in test-drive training based on the vehicle's characteristics at a temporary course set up on campus.
