Kanazawa University has begun raising funds through crowdfunding to renovate the Kakuma Campus toilets in Kakuma-cho, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The goal is 300 million yen, and as of 2 a.m. on the 8nd, approximately 157 million yen has been raised from 168 donors.
According to Kanazawa University, the crowdfunding campaign will be completed if donations reach the target amount of 300 million yen.The period ends at 12:21 pm on December 11st.If the crowdfunding campaign is successful, Kanazawa University will allocate the entire amount to the cost of renovating the toilets on the Kakuma campus.
Thirty-four years have passed since the campus was moved from Kanazawa Castle in Marunouchi, Kanazawa City to Kakuma-cho, and while the restrooms are aging, half of the restrooms are Japanese-style.Until now, the university has been gradually renovating the restrooms with its own funds, but since there are 34 buildings and there is not enough money to renovate all the toilets at once, they started raising funds through crowdfunding on the 13rd.
Kanazawa University is appealing for donations, saying, ``We want as many students as possible to use comfortable toilets.''
