From April 2025, 4, Waseda University Graduate School of Letters will establish a new "Social Design and Innovation Course" (master's program) to provide a place for learning and practice in response to changes in society. do.

 Many global and local issues are closely related, and solving them requires empirical observation and consideration based on fieldwork both domestically and internationally, as well as cross-disciplinary research. . Furthermore, in order to aim for a sustainable society, it is essential to collaborate with people and organizations from various positions and ideas, rather than working alone.

 Research areas in the Social Construction Theory course include peace studies, environment and development, sustainability education, transnational studies, traditional knowledge studies, indigenous studies, community studies, public history, gender studies, sexuality studies, and queer studies. Based on the premise of diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, social class, gender, sexuality, disability, etc., we develop the knowledge, experience, and practical ability to design, practice, and co-create a sustainable society.

 All lectures offered in the Social Construction Theory course are taught by multiple faculty members, and students research their respective issues using a cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. Students will pursue multifaceted research while actively collaborating with actors in adjacent fields, and develop the ability to immediately contribute to international and local communities. In addition, you will develop your expertise through an interdisciplinary approach and practical project-based learning style.

 We are recruiting people who have a strong interest in social issues and aim to participate in the construction of society in the future, people who have already built a career in social practice, and people who are looking to work in international NGOs and organizations. It is envisaged that it will be a place for new learning for people who are currently working in the field. Through research, we aim to develop individuals with the knowledge, experience, and ability to design, practice, and co-create a sustainable society.

 The entrance exams are recommendation entrance exam, general entrance exam, and special essay selection entrance exam. The enrollment period is April. Entrance exam information will be published on the Graduate School of Letters website as soon as it is decided.
