A kick-off symposium was held at the University of Tsukuba, where the Humanics Bachelor's Degree Program was adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's 2018 Outstanding Graduate Program.

 The Humanics Degree Program is an integrated doctoral program that develops leaders who can organically integrate biomedical science with science, engineering, and informatics and return them to society.Under the guidance of a complete double mentor from faculty members in both research fields, students who have studied both fields teach each mentor faculty member the contents of different fields from the opposite standpoint (reverse mentor system).If a business person participates as a visiting professor, doctoral education and industry-academia joint research can be integrated.

 In recent years, there has been a great demand for interdisciplinary fusion, and many of the excellent papers are being co-authored by researchers in the fields of biomedical science and science, engineering, and informatics.Industry interest in the humanics degree program is high, and major companies such as Toyota Motor Corporation and Hitachi, Ltd. have indicated their intention to participate.
