The Kyoto University Comprehensive Survival Academy has launched the first Social Innovation Center at a national university in order to promote cooperation with society and cooperation with private companies and systematically develop joint research.Aim for innovation from Kyoto University by promoting joint research with private companies.

 According to Kyoto University, the purpose of establishing the Social Innovation Center is to conduct research that contributes to social change goals such as SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and to develop human resources with a bird's-eye view and cross-cutting perspective and social implementation capabilities. So, we have set four research areas: water / energy / disaster prevention, blockchain, manned cosmology, and well-being (calmness and flexibility of the mind, purpose of life).

 At a press conference held at the Centennial Clock Tower Memorial Hall, faculty members from four fields explained the aims of the four research fields.Regarding the water, energy, and disaster prevention research areas, Director Kaoru Takara said, "I would like to carry out education in the field of survival infrastructure resources important for the sustainable development of global society and international joint research utilizing world heritage, geoparks, and eco-parks." Regarding the research area, Professor Yuichi Ikeda said, "I would like to socially implement global problem solutions through mathematical research on blockchain technology."

 For the manned cosmology research area, Professor Kaoru Sekiyama said, "I would like to carry out manned exploration on the moon and Mars and space construction for residence, and use that know-how to improve the global environment." Kaoru Sekiyama explained, "I would like to clarify the factors that improve well-being."
