"Realizing coexistence with nature [Garden City type] Next-generation residential area model development Was adopted by the National Research and Development Corporation New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) "Public-Private Young Researcher Discovery Support Project".The research period is from 2020 to 2023 (planned).

The housing industry, which has entered an era of depopulation, faces the limit of "earning by quantity", and there is an urgent need to switch to a lifestyle-proposing industry = value-proposing industry. At the same time, to present an environment-friendly residential area image that realizes reduction of the environmental load of housing (household sector), which accounts for 2% of the total CO16 emissions of Japan, through energy saving and low carbonization of houses and districts. Is also an urgent issue for the housing industry.Furthermore, in recent years, there are some people who positively evaluate the "low density and space" of suburban residential areas, and it is also required to increase their presence and meet new needs with the spread of the new coronavirus infection. ing.

In this research, Waseda University, which has strengths in architecture and urban planning, and Porus Co., Ltd., which has strengths in wood processing / wood processing technology and community-based urban development, have collaborated to bring together and integrate the basic technologies of both. Then, in the fringe area on the outskirts of the metropolitan area (the outer edge of the metropolitan area, an area where the characteristics of urban and rural areas are mixed), while responding to modern living needs, "Garden City" realizes coexistence between human residence and nature Develop a next-generation residential area model.

"Garden City type" next-generation residential area is the outer edge of the metropolitan area on the premise of popularizing new employment styles using ICT (telework, SOHO, etc.) compared to ordinary urban housing and suburban housing. It proposes a new type of residential area that aims to coexist with nature while responding to modern living needs by making the best use of the spatial space of.

Waseda University and Porus Co., Ltd. have been working on the development of this technology and its subsequent commercialization to ensure sustainable regional management against the disorderly residential land development in the suburbs of metropolitan areas, and to save energy in housing and districts. We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by presenting an image of an environment-friendly residential area that reduces the environmental burden by reducing carbon.
