Hiroshima University and Bathclin Corporation have demonstrated through joint research that bath salts containing tannin acid are effective in suppressing itching in patients with atopic dermatitis.

Sweat acts as an aggravating factor for atopic dermatitis. On the other hand, tannic acid, which is one of the plant components, neutralizes the antigen (causing substance of allergy) in sweat and suppresses the release of histamine, thereby exerting an excellent effect on reducing itching of atopic dermatitis.

Until now, it has been confirmed that itching can be reduced by spraying an aqueous solution of tannic acid on the skin, but this time, we hope to easily reduce itching in patients with atopic dermatitis through daily bathing. Conducted a study to verify the effect of "bath agent containing tannic acid".With the cooperation of atopic dermatitis patients who are visiting the outpatient department of dermatology at Hiroshima University, we have two weeks each for "tannin acid-containing bathing agent" and "tannin acid-free bathing agent" without knowing which one. They used it (randomized double-blind crossover study) and evaluated the subjective symptoms of itching. The doctor also scored the clinical symptoms.

As a result, in the subjective symptom evaluation, itching at night was significantly suppressed when the "tannic acid-containing bath salt" was used than when the "tannic acid-free bath salt" was used.In addition, itching at night and during the day was significantly reduced before and after the use of the "tannic acid-containing bath salt".A physician's clinical symptom assessment also showed a significant decrease in symptom score. On the other hand, no adverse events caused by bath salts were observed.

In addition to the cleanliness of the skin by bathing itself, the use of tannic acid-containing bath salts is easy and easy to continue, and it is easy to use in combination with other treatments, so it is very useful for improving the long-term symptoms of atopic dermatitis. It is expected.
