The Japan Association of National Universities has summarized and announced the points of discussion regarding the implementation method of the academic ability evaluation test (tentative name) for university admission applicants, which will be introduced in 2020.The advantages and disadvantages of possible test timings and scoring methods will be listed and will be considered for future study.

The issues were summarized based on the discussions so far and the results of the questionnaire survey conducted for members. In the questionnaire, about 7% of the universities agreed with the continuation of the current separation / division method in which recruitment personnel are sorted and selected in the first and second semesters, so we proceeded with the examination by setting the implementation time of the common examination to the current mid-January or earlier.

If the common exam is conducted ahead of schedule in mid-December, a considerable number of descriptive questions can be asked because the entrance examination center can secure a sufficient scoring period. However, it has a large impact on high school classes and club activities, and it is quite difficult to gain the understanding of the high school side.

However, if the examination schedule remains the same as the current mid-January and the grades are provided to each university immediately after the deadline for accepting the first semester examination application in early February, the scoring period is only two weeks. It is not expected that the content will be enriched, such as the questions of the descriptive question are limited to short sentences.

For this reason, it should be considered to extend only the scoring period of the descriptive test and delay it until just before the implementation of the individual test in the first half of the year to secure a sufficient scoring period and use it only for selection in the individual test. It is supposed to be.

The schedule of the common examination remains the same, and the entrance examination center only shows the scoring criteria for the descriptive examination, and there is a method of scoring at each university, but not only the burden on the university will be significantly increased, but also it will be handled by the university or faculty. May be separated.

The Japan Association of National Universities says that each method has its strengths and weaknesses, and more detailed examination is needed in the future.
