The winners of the 14th Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Achievement Awards have been decided, which commend successful cases that have made significant contributions to industry-academia-government collaboration activities by companies, universities, and public research institutes.Professor Tetsuro Endo, director of the Center for Innovative Integrated Electronics Research and Development, Tohoku University, who developed a high-performance non-volatile memory manufacturing device and built a research and development base, was selected for the best Prime Minister's Award.
According to the Cabinet Office, Professor Endo, Managing Director of Tokyo Electron, and Executive Officer of Keysight Technology International, Masaki Yamamoto, will receive the Prime Minister's Award.
Professor Endo and his colleagues are researching a system that realizes zero standby power using a silicon integrated circuit that combines a non-volatile spin element and a silicon element in order to eliminate the standby power of a semiconductor integrated circuit. Has achieved results in the development of and the construction of research bases.
After the open call for participants by the Cabinet Office, the award winners were selected by a selection committee of academic experts after preliminary selection and recommendation from seven related ministries such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the Ministry of the Environment. An award ceremony will be held at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto-ku, Tokyo on August 7, and 8 awards will be awarded to 26 cases.
