In March 2016, Benesse Holdings Co., Ltd.'s in-house think tank "Benesse Education Research Institute" aimed at graduates of "vocational schools" (vocational school specialized courses) nationwide regarding learning at vocational schools and transition to society. Conducted a retrospective survey. The results of the survey were announced.

Currently, going to college is no longer a guarantee of employment after graduation and a stable life beyond that, but for high school students, if they choose a career other than college, what kind of learning and profession exists beyond that. The current situation is that it is difficult to consider the course because there is little information to know if it is.

Against this background, we conducted a survey of 20 working adults in their 40s and 3,771s who have graduated from a vocational school to clarify the status of learning and work life after graduation at a vocational school. ..

According to the survey, about 8% of vocational school graduates answered that their learning was fulfilling, and the degree of learning fulfillment was the same as that of university graduates (from the 2015 "Reflection Survey on Learning and Growth at University"). ..Approximately 7% of graduates feel that their "non-cognitive skills (such as their ability to persevere in learning and their attitude to work in cooperation with their peers)" such as cooperation and diligence through vocational education have improved.

Regarding the degree of satisfaction with the current work, about 65% are satisfied with the current "work style," "work position," and "human relations at work," but only 4% are satisfied with their annual income. The job "retention rate" is high in the medical field (81.5%) and education / social welfare field (69.0%), low in the commercial practice field (34.2%) and culture / education field (21.8%), and is not qualified. There is a clear difference in the qualification system.

"Regular employment rate and average annual income" varies depending on the specialized field, such as low qualification-related hygiene field (41.6%, 228 million yen) and high non-qualification-type commercial practice field (61.6%, 307 million yen). big. Comparing the "average annual income" with university graduates (overall), a difference of about 100 million yen was confirmed.

The Benesse Institute for Educational Research will proceed with further analysis and will publish a report summarizing the survey results around October 2016.
