Tokai University Aso Campus, which was severely damaged by the Kumamoto earthquake in April 2016, announced the management policy of classes in the Faculty of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Agriculture from FY4.

At the Aso Campus, which was damaged by the Kumamoto Earthquake, a geotechnical investigation committee including experts from outside the university was set up to conduct investigations and examinations after the earthquake. As a result, it was confirmed that faults were running in various places including directly under Building No. 1, and it became clear that it was not possible to construct a new building on at least the fault. We have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to rebuild the Aso Campus.

Based on the current situation of the Aso Campus, we will continue to hold lectures and classes at the Kumamoto Campus from 2018 onward regarding the management of classes for the Faculty of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Agriculture.

In addition, on the Aso Campus, we will set up restricted access areas after ensuring sufficient safety, and redevelop the parts that can be used continuously, mainly on farms and pastures, and field fields sequentially from FY2018. It is said that it will be used for specialized classes and research centered on practical training in Japan. At that time, the means of transportation for students from the Kumamoto campus to the Aso campus will be to use the university bus in consideration of student safety and economic aspects.

Tokai University will continue to carefully consider with related organizations from a medium- to long-term perspective, and will report as soon as progress is made.
