From April, Otemon Gakuin University opened a course specializing in university management at the Graduate School of Business Administration and Economics.This is the first time in Japan that a master's degree in university management can be obtained in the field of business administration.It also targets working people such as active university staff, and four active university staff from Otemon Gakuin University and two from other schools are enrolled as the first students.
According to Otemon Gakuin University, this course is a university management research area of the Business Economics Major Management Course.Only in the master's program, the standard completion period is two years.Completion requires at least 2 credits and a master's thesis.
Subjects specific to the research area include "Management Strategy Research (University Management)", "Higher Education Theory", "University Staff Theory", "Career Development Support Theory", and "Higher Education Statistical Analysis".From the perspective of business administration, deeply study the theory, case studies, history, etc. of specialized fields related to university management, and develop the ability to investigate, analyze, and consider educational management issues.
Five first-year students attended the business management theory class and received a lecture on the theme of "corporate organization and university management" from Professor Kazumasa Fukushima, the instructor in charge.There is no clear distinction between management and governance, which are talked about in university management, but after confirming that management has a strong research / decision / execution function and governance has a strong opinion gathering / checking / audit function.
