Silicon Bio Co., Ltd., a venture company from Hiroshima University, has developed a "portable iPad fluorescence microscope" in collaboration with OptoScience Co., Ltd.Not only will it be possible to perform on-site analysis, but it will also be possible to provide expert advice from a remote analysis room.
The fluorescence microscope developed this time illuminates a place where asbestos is suspected to be used with a blue LED, and it is possible to inspect by simply taking a picture with an iPad.It is also possible to perform analysis in real time by sending image data to an analysis room away from the site. This microscope is scheduled to be released from Silicon Bio in January 2016, and is expected to demonstrate its power at the demolition site of buildings using asbestos.
Asbestos is already used in many buildings, so it would be time-consuming and costly to take the sample home and analyze it every time it is demolished.Silicon Bio Fluorescence Microscopes will reduce this effort and contribute to the realization of safe and quick dismantling work.
