 In order to achieve economic growth in Japan, it is believed that the development of the "service industry," which accounts for about 7% of Japan's GDP and employment, is indispensable. The "Industry-Academia Collaboration Service Management Human Resources Development Project" is a professional and practical education program related to the management of the service industry, in which universities (including junior colleges, professional graduate schools, and graduate schools) form an industry-academia consortium with service providers. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will support the development of the project, and the budget for FY2016 is 2.1 million yen.

 The 2016 projects adopted this time are "In-Campus Real Business Learning" from the Faculty of Service Creation, Chiba University of Commerce, and "Tourism Human Resource Development Program Development Project through Industry-Academia Collaboration" by the Department of International Tourism, Toyo University and the Japan Travel Industry Association. 37 universities and other projects selected from 16 applications.

 The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will support the development of educational programs related to service management at educational institutions at 2015 schools in the five years from FY2019 to FY5, and after the project is completed, each educational institution will support the development of educational programs related to service management based on the program. Specialized faculties, courses, courses, etc. will be established, aiming to develop about 30 management personnel and management personnel.
