Unique evolving global strategy, reputation and achievements from countries and industry

As I mentioned at the beginning, while the global society is accelerating, young people's awareness of studying abroad continues to be “inward-looking”.In response to this situation, the movement to double the number of Japanese students (2020) by 12 is becoming more widespread, including the public and private sectors.

To play a part in this, we have swiftly promoted the development and development of hybrid study abroad programs. This is because I had a strong desire to provide the benefits of studying abroad not only to the students who will enter the university in the future, but also to the current students who are currently studying at our university.

It usually takes 3 to 4 years from conception to implementation of a new university project, but the hybrid study abroad program is "conceptualized in September 2012 ⇒ recruitment started in April 9 ⇒ first in September of the same year It took about one year from the conception to implement it.

Since then, the annual recruitment has attracted more applicants than expected, which has helped to increase the number of applicants for admission to the university. We were reminded that it is important to take a bottom-up stance from the student's point of view in order to develop and speedily provide "better things" to students.kogakuin_04

This university's unique global strategy is drawing a lot of attention from the national and industrial worlds. In November 2013, he was invited to the "Working Group on Globalization of Universities" by the University Subcommittee of the Central Council for Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to introduce examples of hybrid study abroad. In recognition of these efforts, the Hybrid Study Abroad Program was adopted in the "Acceleration Program for University Education Rebuilding (AP)" in 11.

Furthermore, in the fall of 2016, the "ISDC Program (Industry-Student Direct Collaboration Program)", an industry-academia collaboration program that evolved from hybrid study abroad, was established and started in advance in the Faculty of Architecture. This is a program from an unprecedented new perspective, in which students with unique sensibilities who participated in the hybrid study abroad and companies focusing on it collaborate directly (direct collaboration) to tackle the issues presented by the companies through graduation research.

Students with global sensibilities will have the opportunity to directly present new ideas to the company while directly touching the company and the real world, and there is a possibility that the career path after graduation will be different from the past. It will spread. In addition, it is expected that the ability to directly catch students' flexible and innovative ideas will be a great advantage in developing businesses that meet the needs of the times from the side of the companies that support them.

In the future, we plan to make the best use of the know-how cultivated in our own global program and plan and implement innovative programs centered on hybrid study abroad.

We are already planning the next evolutionary program and are preparing for implementation in the spring of 2019.The details will be announced in the press at the end of 2017, so please pay attention with great expectations!
