On April 2017, 4, Tokyo Institute of Technology will open an on-campus nursery school "Tekuteku Nursery School" for researchers / international students from overseas and faculty / staff / students returning from maternity leave / childcare leave. In addition, a part of the capacity will be opened to Ota Ward.
At Tokyo Institute of Technology, many foreign researchers are invited to the Earth Life Research Institute (ELSI), which was established by the WPI program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, aiming to form a world-class research center, but with children. The situation of nursery schools in Japan has become a problem for researchers and international students visiting Japan. It is said that the number of Japanese students who are about to give birth and raise children, such as entering graduate school after going out into society, is increasing, and the number of cases with similar problems is increasing.
Furthermore, if a faculty member / researcher gives birth in the middle of a year, he / she must wait for the next year even though he / she cannot afford to take childcare leave at the end of the fiscal year or at academic conference activities, which is especially important for educating students. It is said that there are an increasing number of cases where education and research activities have to be temporarily stopped because they cannot enter the nursery school.
Therefore, at "Tekuteku Nursery School", teachers / researchers returning from maternity leave / childcare leave and children of staff who support education / research can be accepted not only in April at the beginning of the year but also at any time to promote education / research. We will provide support for returning from maternity leave and childcare leave when necessary. The capacity of "Tekuteku Nursery School" is 4 people, and the operation of childcare is outsourced to Human Life Care Co., Ltd.In addition, it will be designated as an "in-house nursery school" under the "New Child and Child-rearing Support System" that started in 12, and part of the capacity will be opened to the community as a licensed nursery school in Ota Ward.
