The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) examined measures to secure the quality and quantity of science and engineering human resources at the Human Resources Supply and Demand Working Group held jointly with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and summarized future policies.Science and engineering will be held in May with the content of regularly continuing industry needs surveys, training human resources in the mathematical and information technology fields that support the growth of artificial intelligence (AI), and building a supply-demand matching system. Report to the industry-academia-government round table on human resource development.

According to the summary, one of the pillars is supply and demand matching based on industry needs surveys. At the same time as observing the needs of industry at a fixed point, we will consider establishing a new council consisting of the dean level of the university to serve as a bridge between industry and academia.
In order for the university to develop the human resources required by the industry, we will focus not only on cooperation between the university and individual companies, but also on dispatching lecturers led by industry groups, providing teaching materials, and developing human resources involving multiple companies.

The pillar was to visualize the skills of science and engineering human resources required by the industrial world and to be able to evaluate the existence of skills in recruiting activities. For this reason, the required courses required for each specialized field will be organized so that the presence or absence of skills can be determined by utilizing the course history at the time of hiring.

In particular, in the fields of mathematical and information technology, technological progress is rapid, and the shortage of human resources is becoming more serious. It has been pointed out that there will be an overwhelming shortage of engineers in this field in the future due to the progress of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and a standard curriculum for conducting education in the fields of mathematics and information technology regardless of humanities or science has been created. However, it is necessary to spread it to universities all over the country.
