The RIKEN Interdisciplinary Mathematical Creation Program, the Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, University of Tokyo will establish a new online lecture system for inter-university collaboration and begin classes on various aspects of mathematical science. Not only faculty members of Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo, but also young researchers from research institutes such as RIKEN give lectures, and students who take the lectures can take classes at their university and earn credits.
According to Kyoto University, this inter-university collaborative lecture is given under the name of "Research Frontier of Mathematical Science", "Abstract starting from integers", "Concept of elementary particles and fields", "How does biological evolution proceed?" Themes such as appear. The course will start until July, and the number of lectures is planned to be more than a dozen.
By explaining the frontier themes of modern science from the perspective of mathematical science, it is expected that students will learn the basics and applications of mathematical science at an early stage and will be able to develop human resources that transcend the boundaries of universities.
Hiroshi Kokufu, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Kyoto University, said, "It is significant for students of Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo to share and interact with each other as an attempt at a new university education." I am confident that we will achieve great results by advancing undergraduate education, revitalizing the horizontal development of education, and promoting DX for education. "
