Keio University Faculty of Environment and Information Studies Shingo Yamaguchi Laboratory, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, Yahoo Japan Corporation and LINE Corporation have jointly established the "Cyber Disaster Prevention Consortium". announced. The consortium will support policy proposals aimed at disaster prevention and mitigation that actively utilize the Internet, media, and artificial intelligence (AI) that are familiar to people's lives, as well as related regional demonstration projects.

Accurate information analysis and sharing is indispensable for prompt and smooth disaster emergency measures and disaster victim support. However, in the actual field, despite the development of information and communication technology (ICT), there is a desperate lack of information, or a huge amount of information that changes from moment to moment causes confusion. The "lifeline" that connects the victims and government agencies is only available on voice phones, information is gathered only at the disaster response headquarters, and information is available on the whiteboard that can only be accessed by people within a few meters of the disaster response headquarters. The cause is that it is organized.

To solve these problems, it is expected that the latest information and communication technologies such as the Internet, media, and AI, which can reach and be closest to people, will be drastically introduced. In this consortium, in order to make all-Japan efforts to utilize these Internets for disaster prevention and mitigation, cooperation between industry-academia-government efforts that are being promoted fragmentarily, establishment of an information sharing system that eliminates vertical division of organizations, and information on the public and private sectors. He will lead discussions toward solving issues such as system networking, and will compile policy proposals to strengthen disaster prevention capabilities in collaboration with the government, local governments, and designated public organizations. The first meeting is scheduled to be held in November.
