Doshisha University will start joint research with the Agency for Cultural Affairs from December to establish an evaluation method for the cultural and artistic creative city. This is the first time that the Agency for Cultural Affairs has been conducting joint research with universities and research institutes. A signing ceremony and a commemorative symposium will be held in December, and research will continue until the end of March 12.
According to Doshisha University, Doshisha University and the Agency for Cultural Affairs conducted comprehensive evaluations by conducting questionnaire surveys and interviews targeting a total of 100 cities, including cities that received the Agency for Cultural Affairs' commendation and cities that are members of the Creative City Network Japan. We will also consider how policy support should be in the future.
The Culture and Arts Creation City is a cross-disciplinary policy that promotes the creation of new industries and employment, and the solution of social problems by making the best use of the creativity of culture and art.In Europe, the government and artists, cultural groups, companies, universities, civic groups, etc. are working together to promote industry and revitalize the region, and it is attracting attention as a "creative city".
UNESCO began forming a creative city network in 2004 in order to unlock the potential of cultural industries in each region through intercity collaboration. The Agency for Cultural Affairs also commends the City for Cultural Arts Creation by the Commissioner and is building a domestic network. However, although the evaluation of achievements must be carried out from multiple perspectives, the evaluation method has not been established in Japan.
