The Japan Student Services Organization has announced the results of a fact-finding survey on scholarship projects in 2016.

 According to the survey, 2016 organizations answered that they have a scholarship system in 5,028.The scholarship system implemented by these organizations is 11,204, the number of scholarship students is 554,675, and the scholarship project amount is 1,471.5 billion yen.Compared to the results of the 2013 survey conducted in the previous survey, the number of implementing organizations increased by 1,151 (29.7%), the number of programs increased by 2,540 (29.3%), the number of scholarship students increased by 126,572 (29.6%), and scholarships. The business value increased by 260.5 billion yen (21.5%).In particular, the increase in the number of scholarship students in high schools and the increase in scholarship programs for vocational school students by medical institutions such as hospitals were remarkable.

 There are two types of scholarship payments: "benefit", "lending", and "combination" of benefit and lending. Of the 11,204 scholarship programs, 7,907 (70.6%) for benefits, 3,222 (28.8%) for loans, and 75 (0.7%) for combined use.Benefits accounted for 7%.By category of implementing organizations, the ratio of loans was high in local public organizations and medical institutions, and the ratio of benefits was high in schools, public interest groups, individuals and others.

 Looking at the number of scholarship students by benefits and loans, the total number of scholarship students was 288,463 (52.0%), 264,164 (47.6%) for benefits, and 2,048 (0.4%) for combined use.The ratio of lending is high.By category of implementing organizations, the ratio of loans was high in local public organizations, public interest organizations, medical institutions, individuals and others, and the ratio of benefits was high in schools and commercial corporations.

 Looking at the criteria for hiring scholarship students, the percentage of systems that emphasize academic ability and personality was high at 42.5%.Looking at the status of the system of the implementing organization, whether or not it can be paid together with the Japan Student Services Organization, the percentage of the system that allows it to be paid together was high at 85.5%.
