From March 2023, 3, NTT West, Kwansei Gakuin University, and Hankyu Corporation have started a demonstration experiment in which university students can book commuter passes from home by linking the certificate issuing service and the commuter pass Internet reservation service.
The demonstration experiment will run until the end of April and will target approximately 4 undergraduate students at Kwansei Gakuin University's Faculty of Education. The enrollment information and commuting route data of the certificate issuing service provided by NTT West to universities are linked with Hankyu Corporation's "e-teiki system". To enable online reservation of a commuter pass. After making a reservation, you can purchase a student commuter pass directly from the ticket vending machine.
The new service automatically identifies the nearest station when students enter their address, and has a function to search for the best commuting route to the nearest station to the university. In addition, if predetermined conditions such as the cheapest route are met, it will be possible to automatically approve school routes.
Until now, Kwansei Gakuin University has issued paper commuter certificates manually, and students have taken them to railway companies and other places to purchase commuter passes. For this reason, long lines form at the commuter pass counters at terminal stations during the busy season, which has become a social issue.
If this system is introduced, it is expected that the university will be able to save labor in commuting route approval work and certificate issuance work, as well as relieve congestion at commuter pass counters. In the demonstration experiment, the effect of labor saving will be verified, and if there are no problems, full-scale introduction will be considered.
