FuRo (Director Takayuki Furuta) of the Future Robot Technology Research Center of Chiba Institute of Technology and Shunji Yamanaka, a product designer, planned and developed the transformable boarding type intelligent robot RidRoid series "CanguRo".

CanguRo means kangaroo in Italian. In fact, it looks like a kangaroo, but the development concept is a "horse," which was once a human partner and vehicle. It is a partner robot that normally snuggles up to the master, and a vehicle that transforms when moving and expands the physical functions of the master.Ride (vehicle) and Lloyd (robot), that is, aiming at the fusion of mobility and robot technology.

CanguRo weighs 64 kg and is 44 cm wide.In Lloyd mode, the total length is 55.5 cm, and it can be operated with a smartphone or tablet PC, and the master is picked up by the fully automatic control function (called SLAM technology). It is also equipped with a follow-up function that helps you carry luggage and shop by following the back.It can also be a communication robot with friends and family.

In ride mode, it automatically deforms to a total length of 75 cm.It moves with the master on it like a motorcycle, and when turning, it tilts its posture and turns while realizing a sense of unity with the body.

In addition, the moving speed can be felt by the whole body through sound and vibration by the sensory acoustic speaker. In addition, the force feedback function of the steering wheel allows you to "experience" the turning radius when turning in real time. These experience functions are technologies implemented to create "human-machine integration."In an emergency, the smart stop function activates the automatic brake.

CanguRo is expected to be a future mobility that brings the fun and convenience of "running" to all people through intelligent (AI) technology and robot technology, and eventually expands the range of human activities and energizes society.
