The new school building "Green Commons" is a three-story building made of steel and wood.It is the first university in Japan to adopt a three-story large-scale wooden building. The amount of wood used is about 3㎥, which is one of the largest among domestic university facilities, and cedar from Oita Prefecture is used for most of the central wooden building, from the structural materials to the interior. We will contribute to reducing CO3 emissions by approximately 450 tons and promote efforts to realize a carbon-neutral society.

The new international education dormitory "AP House 5" is a 4-story reinforced concrete building with 7 dormitory rooms, including 261 universal rooms. The 4th floor, which is connected to the classroom area by a bridge and serves as the entrance, has a multi-purpose space where students from outside the dormitory, companies, and the community can interact.Together with the existing AP House, the total number of rooms will be 1,571, and with the construction of "AP House 5", all new students who wish to move in will be able to dormitory.

Based on the concept of “Residential Education & Residential Wellbeing” (a dormitory as a place for learning, a dormitory for maintaining physical and mental health), AP House aims to help students learn through dormitory life and grow physically and mentally.Rather than simply being a place to stay overnight, it will function as a place where students can encounter diverse values, find solutions while clashing with each other, and learn.

At the completion ceremony held on March 2023, 3, President Haruaki Deguchi expressed his gratitude to those involved in the completion of the new building, saying, "APU will open the Faculty of Sustainability and Tourism in April 28.
