Nippon Institute of Technology was selected for a training program sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment, "FY4 Regional Renewable Energy Introduction Promotion and Regional Core Human Resource Development Training in Collaboration with Educational Institutions".Twenty-two students from the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Fundamental Engineering participated in the training under the theme adopted by the university, "Engineering study of biogas generation technology and small-scale equipment training for the introduction of regional renewable energy."

This training will foster the mindset of contributing to the promotion of the introduction of regional renewable energy among students, create human resources who will be responsible for the introduction of regional renewable energy, and build a lasting co-creative relationship through industry-academia collaboration regarding the introduction of regional renewable energy. done on purpose. At Nippon Institute of Technology, from December 2022 to March 12, Nippon Institute of Technology College Meister Program with the theme of "Engineering study of biogas generation technology and small-scale equipment training for the introduction of regional renewable energy" Members of SDGs for Engineers (abbreviated as SfE) and students from Yuichi Uchida's and Masato Ban's laboratories in the Department of Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Fundamental Engineering participated.

In the training, under the technical guidance of Professor Emeritus Shigeo Sato of the Nippon Institute of Technology, in addition to practical training in the production and operation of a biogas generator using food and agricultural residue as raw materials, 3 fieldwork sessions were held to experience the efforts of biogas conversion technology. We visited several business sites*.In addition, students mainly from SfE and administrative staff from Miyashiro Town Hall exchanged opinions on renewable energy creation technology suitable for Miyashiro Town and issues of regional decarbonization.

On March 3, the participating universities of the training program (17 universities in total) presented their achievements at the overall exchange meeting, and the training was successfully completed. For the students who participated, it was a series of very valuable experiences, and it was a very meaningful training that gave them a first-hand experience of the challenge of decarbonizing the region.

* Fieldwork will be held at the following three locations
・Hamura City, Tokyo: West Tokyo Recycle Center [Biogas power generation facility]
・Misato City, Saitama Prefecture: Nakagawa Water Circulation Center [Sludge digestion and biogas power generation system]
・Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture: Coco Farm Winery [Wine brewing equipment]

Nippon Institute of Technology

"New era of actual engineering" Education that changes, philosophy that does not change

Nippon Institute of Technology, which opened in 1967, is developing its own "practical engineering" learning, such as taking specialized experiments, practical training, and drafting subjects from the first year.Currently, the Faculty of Core Engineering, the Faculty of Advanced Engineering, and the Faculty of Architecture are organized into 3 faculties, 7 departments, and 2 courses, and inherit and develop traditional practical engineering education.Looking to further deepen practical engineering education […]
