Shizuoka University and Recruit Co., Ltd.'s Jalan Research Center have jointly developed a career education program (teaching materials) for enjoying leisure time. The teaching materials have been published on the website of Shioda Laboratory, Faculty of Education, Shizuoka University since June 2023, 6, and can be downloaded free of charge by educators and those involved in the travel industry.

At the Shioda Laboratory, career education has often centered on "work," such as occupational surveys and work experience learning. However, as work styles changed with the rise of AI and robots, we focused on the importance of life-career education that considers private enrichment such as leisure, family, and community activities, and considered a new educational program.

On the other hand, the Jalan Research Center sees that the way people spend their leisure time is diversifying due to the declining population due to the declining birthrate and aging population, and the rate of domestic travel implementation is declining. This time, with the aim of further revitalizing the market by having the next generation of young people feel the value of travel, we have decided to engage in joint research with Shioda Laboratory on a career education program that enjoys leisure time.

In joint research, we created a career education program (teaching materials) for high school students to broaden their perspectives on leisure with the theme of "travel" and enrich their lives. It is a system that breaks down your “likes” and broadens your perspective from keywords to search for “trips you want to try”.

The created career education program was put into practice in a career education class at Fuji Municipal High School on May 5th and at a private Hamamatsu Seisei High School on June 25th.A survey was conducted by the students, and the students were asked to answer the question, "I want to travel." In response to the question "Travel is a high priority as something I want to try", the average score increased to 6 before class and 16 after class, and to 5 before class and 4.16 after class in response to the question "In the future, I would like to spend more time outside of work."

The students said, "I was surprised at a completely different result from my preference. I saw the results, I thought it was a kind of trip I wanted to go to." "I was able to find a trip that suits me because I like it. It can be seen that the participation of the class has increased the importance of leisure in career and the willingness to travel, and the options have expanded.

The developed career education program (teaching materials) is published on the website of Shioda Laboratory, Faculty of Education, Shizuoka University, and can be downloaded for free by educators and those involved in the travel industry.
