Professor Yuki Ishina of the University of Fukui School of Medicine was selected for the "50th Yabu Doctor Award" sponsored by Yabu City, Hyogo Prefecture, which recognizes doctors and dentists under the age of 10 who are active in depopulated areas.He worked at Wada Clinic and Wakasa Takahama Hospital in Takahama Town, Fukui Prefecture, and was highly evaluated for his contributions to regional medical care, such as a 17.5% increase in the number of townspeople with family doctors in the town.
According to the University of Fukui and Yabu City, Professor Ishina not only provides medical care to the townspeople as a doctor on duty, but also established the "Takahama Regional Medical Supporters' Association" to raise the residents' interest in medical care. In addition to Professor Ishina, who won the 10th Yabu Doctor Award, he ran a clinic in the Nanayama district of Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, and worked to integrate the medical department, dental clinic, and dispensing pharmacy into the Nanayama Civic Center, a branch of the city hall.
