On October 2023, 10, Okayama University collaborated with NPO Dappi and Figuage Co., Ltd. to establish Orange, an entrepreneurship community for high school students.
This project is being carried out as part of the Japan Science and Technology Agency's ``EDGE-PRIME Initiative'' project, and aims to foster entrepreneurship among high school students and boost entrepreneurial momentum in the region by supporting them to start businesses while they are in school.``Orange'', which was recently established, is characterized by support tailored to the aspirations of high school students, including not only support for starting a business while still in school, but also support for university entrance exams in a comprehensive selection process that makes use of those practices and experiences.
On October 10st, a kickoff event for high school students to commemorate the establishment of the community was held at the Momotaro Startup Cafe (Momosta) in front of Okayama Station, titled "Exit Strategy of Comprehensive Selection."Ayumi Fujiwara, a student at Keio University, served as a lecturer and introduced the university entrance examination system ``Comprehensive Selection,'' in which personality is evaluated not only on academic ability but also through interviews and essays. He gave advice based on his own experiences, such as, ``The activities you engage in can be used to promote yourself when taking the comprehensive selection exam.''The event was attended by 1 high school students from Okayama Prefecture, with comments such as ``I didn't know what to do to prepare for the comprehensive selection, so I decided to put into practice what I heard at this event.'' was asked.
``Orange'' has set up a community space on the Okayama campus of Fig High School, which is open every Thursday.In the future, we plan to hold online exchange events and deliver lectures to high schools in Okayama Prefecture.
