Kagoshima University Hospital conducted response training on the assumption that the Sendai Nuclear Power Station in Satsumasendai City, Kagoshima Prefecture was damaged by a large-scale earthquake and injured.Approximately 40 faculty members participated in the event, from helicopter transportation to radiation exposure treatment.
According to Kagoshima University Hospital, two staff members were injured while patroling the fuel handling building of Kawauchi Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 due to a large-scale earthquake, one of whom went to Saiseikai Sendai Hospital and the other to Kagoshima University Hospital. It is assumed that it was transported by the prefecture's disaster prevention helicopter.In the training, the injured were transported from the disaster prevention helicopter that arrived, and the injured were decontaminated and treated by the faculty and staff.

Since Kagoshima University Hospital was designated as a nuclear disaster base hospital by the prefecture in 2017, it has been conducting training assuming the damage of the nuclear power plant since 2017.In this training, we were able to confirm the communication system with related organizations and the route for transporting injured people, such as with the cooperation of experts from the Nagasaki University Advanced Radiation Emergency Medical Support Center.
