Keiai University Research Institute for Regional Studies will hold a symposium "Disaster-Resistant Town Development-Learn from Recent Natural Disasters-" online on November 2020, 11 in collaboration with Chiba Prefecture and Chiba City.

Chiba Prefecture has been severely damaged by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and the 2019 typhoon, and is frequently affected by global warming, which is said to occur with a 30% probability in the next 70 years. It can be said that countermeasures against an invading large typhoon are an urgent issue.

In this symposium, we will summarize lessons learned from recent natural disasters such as the disasters that hit Chiba prefecture in the first year of Reiwa (typhoons 15 and 19, heavy rain on October 10).After that, we will consider measures by the government, local disaster prevention activities by local residents, and how each household should prepare for disasters in order to create a disaster-resistant town.In addition, we will discuss measures for early recovery and reconstruction after a disaster, especially the measures that will be needed in the future, such as the role of the public and private sectors in disaster recovery, with government officials.

The online symposium will be held from 11:13 to 13:30 on November 17th (Friday).Pre-registration applicationThe deadline for reception is November 11th.
