Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization has developed an integrated database that covers the analysis information of the large-scale cohort survey (* 1) being conducted in both Miyagi and Iwate prefectures. This is the first time in the world that the analysis information of biological samples including the health survey and the whole genome sequence status has been integrated. The data of the survey participants in Miyagi prefecture are open to the public with restrictions.
According to the Japan Medical Research and Development Organization, the integrated database includes questionnaires, physiological tests, sample tests, MRI images, and medical information collected by the Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization together with the Iwate Medical University Iwate Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization. It also includes genetic information from whole-genome analysis.
Biobank manages biological samples and medical information, but since genome analysis is entrusted to other analysis centers, genome analysis information has been stored in another database.By integrating these into the same database, it is expected to be useful for elucidating multifactorial diseases that develop due to the complex action of genes and the environment.
Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization, as the first step in building an integrated database, provides information on blood, urinalysis, lifestyle-related questionnaires, and whole-genome sequences of 1 Miyagi residents who participated in the cohort survey in 2013. Published with restrictions.
Tohoku University and Iwate Medical University have been working on the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project since 2012 as a reconstruction project for the Great East Japan Earthquake, and are conducting a cohort survey of 15 people in both Miyagi and Iwate prefectures.
(* 1) Cohort survey A survey that asks the lifestyles of residents and examines their constitution to clarify the relationship with the subsequent outbreak of illness.
