Professor Yasuo Kawakami's laboratory at Waseda University's Faculty of Sport Sciences will begin supporting athletes from Saitama Prefecture who are aiming to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with training and condition adjustment based on scientific evidence.
According to Waseda University, the project targets 6 people in the third year of junior high school and above who were designated as "Sai no Kuni 2020 Dream Athletes" by Saitama Prefecture in June.All of them were registered players in Saitama prefecture or from Saitama prefecture, and were selected by the selection committee from the players recommended by each competition group.
In the future, Kawakami Laboratory will acquire data on body composition, skeletal muscle, muscle mass, instantaneous power, and whole body endurance from 52 people, and after understanding the physical characteristics of each athlete, training suitable for each athlete Support condition adjustment.
Saitama Prefecture is aiming for 2020 people from Saitama Prefecture to participate in the Tokyo Olympics through "Sai no Kuni 100 Dream Athletes".In order to participate in and play an active role on the best stage for athletes, the Olympic Games, scientifically-backed support is indispensable.Waseda University hopes that this project will be an opportunity to improve competitiveness and that people from Saitama Prefecture will play an active role on the front lines of the world.
