Toward the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee has signed cooperation agreements with universities and junior colleges nationwide to promote Olympic and Paralympic education, develop global human resources, and promote global human resources at each university. We are advancing initiatives that take advantage of our characteristics.
In order to get not only sports colleges and faculties but also liberal arts and arts college students interested in the Olympics, Jissen Women's University has incorporated classes related to the Olympics into the "International Understanding and Career Development" classes and earned credits. Each university is making its own efforts, such as making it available for acquisition and starting practical training to create works with the theme of the Olympics at Joshibi University of Art and Design.
In addition, activities that transcend the boundaries of universities have begun. The Olympic Games, where many people from all over the world gather, is regarded as "a great place to promote multilingual education other than English", and it goes beyond national and private boundaries such as Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, and seven foreign languages nationwide. Universities have collaborated to start an initiative to train interpreter volunteers.
At the Games Organizing Committee, we would like to actively utilize the ideas of university students proposed in classes, and we hope that as many university students as possible will learn about and participate in the Olympic Games.
