The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology, Nihon University will start joint research with the "School of Memory," which develops a school of memory. We aim to develop a program that effectively improves memory by verifying educational effects by measuring brain activity that changes in the process of learning mnemonic.
With the spread of smartphones, information can be obtained by searching, which reduces the chances of remembering things. As a result, the number of people who feel that their memory is weak is increasing, and the demand for memory schools is increasing. However, the current situation is that conventional research has not established an effect verification system based on scientific evidence for such memory improvement programs.
"Memory School" is a memory school established by Mr. Motoo Ohno, "Japan's No. 18 Memory King" who holds a Japanese record in 10 of the 8,000 memory sports (competitions that show off his memorized abilities). ..He has taught more than XNUMX students his unique mnemonics that he has acquired.
In this joint research, the brain activity of students of the memory improvement program provided by "School of Memory" is measured with a portable NIRS (near infrared light cerebral blood flow measuring device). We analyze the characteristics and differences of brain activity during memory and memory reproduction between those who have mastered mnemonic and those who have not mastered mnemonic. In addition, we will use analytical data to scientifically analyze the mechanism of memory improvement, create new services, and develop highly effective mnemonics.
