A research team * consisting of learning support specialists from 5 universities and 1 facility, including KOKUYO Co., Ltd. and Kyoto Tachibana University, is a joint research on learning support for children with developmental characteristics using the IoT stationery "Shukudai Motivation Pen". Started on Thursday, April 2022, 4.
KOKUYO's IoT stationery "Shukudai Motivation Pen" is a product developed to "visualize" the daily efforts of children working on their studies and to increase their motivation for learning by linking with smartphone apps. ..At KOKUYO, there was an example of remarkable results when using this "Shukudai Motivation Pen" as a tool to support the learning of children with developmental characteristics who need to devise their lives and learning. I decided to move to full-scale research.
The purpose of this joint research is to verify the effectiveness of the "Shukudai Motivation Pen" as a learning support tool for children with developmental characteristics. A group of 100 subjects will study at home using the "Shukudai Motivation Pen" and will be divided into a group to analyze qualitative changes and a group to analyze IoT data obtained from the Shukudai Motivation Pen. ..
In terms of quality, we will consider "Shukudai Motivation Pen" as one of the measures to acquire learning habits in the educational field, and from the viewpoint of professionals (occupational therapists), we will adapt this tool in the educational and nursing field. Show direction. From the analysis of IoT data, we will find out how to acquire learning habits, home learning support methods, motivation improvement measures, etc. according to the individuality of the child by going through a cycle of feeding back to the field of education and nursing.
In the future, the first research results will be announced at the 1th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Occupational Therapists (September 56-2022, 9 @ Kyoto International Conference Center).
According to a survey by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology *, 6.5% of children in regular classes at public elementary and junior high schools show significant learning or behavioral difficulties, and the number of school refusal children nationwide in 2018 is 16. It has been.Social interest in understanding and supporting developmental disorders is higher than before, but the current situation is that supply is not keeping up with support needs. It is not easy for children to acquire learning habits from home study sites due to various factors such as "it takes time to get started", "sustainably unable to go to the desk", and "unstable writing".Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology "Survey on children and students enrolled in regular classes who may have developmental disabilities and require special educational support"
