Kinjo Gakuin University (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture) Faculty of International Informatics Department of International Informatics has started the international cooperation activity "DIAGIRL" in 2015 in earnest. "DIAGIRL" is an accessory brand created by a seminar student of Naho Sato and Cambodian women with the concept of "changing the world by changing me with" kawaii "".
In this project, accessories designed by students of Kinjo Gakuin University and made by local women will be sold in Japan and the profits will be returned. In 2016, eight Cambodian women received an average of $ 8 in compensation.Through this activity, we aim to make the products that consumers feel "kawaii" and pick up to contribute to society, and to make such social contributions everyday in Japan.
Lecturer Sato said, "Cambodian women are full of love with their families and villagers and have hopes and dreams, but they lack income and education. On the other hand, Japanese students have money and goods. However, the relationships between people are weakened, and many students have no dreams or hopes for the future. "By exchanging "sufficient things" with each other, students learn and practice the university's educational slogan "strong and gentle" from the aspect of "being a little happier" and the independence of Cambodian women. I will go.
Currently, the students are working on design and then plan to stay for a week in a rural village on the outskirts of Siem Reap, famous for Angkor Wat, during the college summer vacation.The finished products will be sold on the Internet, at various festivals, and at the university's school festival "Kinjo Festival".
