Kogakuin University Solar Team, a student project of Kogakuin University (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), has decided to participate in the world's largest solar car race "2017 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge" to be held in Australia.This month, the main race will start on October 2017, 10, and will be held until the 5th.
This is the third world competition for the Kogakuin University Solar Team.In this project, leading Japanese support companies such as Bridgestone Corporation provide cutting-edge materials and technologies.Companies work with universities to support teams while raising students.
The members of the team go beyond the boundaries of faculties and departments, and currently have 226 members.Students are in charge of all processes, such as public relations, accounting, and coordination with support companies, as well as new vehicle production.In addition, female drivers will also participate in this tournament for the first time since the team was formed.
In addition, the entire university backs up with advice from faculty members working on cutting-edge research in each field, from vehicle development to design / manufacturing and race participation.The World Congress, in which the entire university participates, will be a place to put into practice the philosophy of "a school where infinite possibilities bloom" that Kogakuin University advocates.
The "2017 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge" is one of the world's largest solar car races, which uses only sunlight as a power source to compete for a total running technology of approximately 3,000km from Darwin in northern Australia to Adelaide in the south.The team departs from Narita Airport to Australia in late September.We are preparing for the start of the main race, such as vehicle inspections, driving practice, and adjustment of new cars.
