Yamagata University and Tohoku University of Art and Design jointly began offering a common course on the use of AI (artificial intelligence) technology in October.The on-demand classes are open to first-year students at Yamagata University and all grades at Tohoku University of Art and Design, and are taught by instructors from both universities as well as executives from private companies to learn about the cutting edge of AI utilization.
According to Yamagata University, the joint lectures will be titled ``Introduction to Technology'' at Yamagata University and ``Science, Technology and the Future'' at Tohoku University of Art and Design. A total of 2024 lectures are scheduled until January 1, and will explain the history of AI, examples of the use of the latest technologies such as AI, blockchain, 15G, cloud big data, and the Metaverse, as well as the relationship between technology and law.External lecturers will include Yoshiaki Ieda, executive officer of AI developer Cinnamon, Daisuke Ishii, CEO of Chiara, and Associate Professor Naoya Nagaishi of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies and Interdisciplinary Information Studies at the University of Tokyo.
Modern society is undergoing major changes due to advances in science and technology such as AI.In order for students to learn about the rapidly changing current state of society and make use of it in their respective fields of expertise, both universities planned to jointly offer common classes across national and private institutions.
Yamagata University points to the benefits of jointly offering classes, including having cutting-edge instructors that leverage each other's networks, sharing educational costs, and conducting joint FD (faculty development) activities. The company plans to strengthen its educational functions.
