The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science has selected 14 people, including Kenji Itao of the University of Tokyo, for the 18th Ikushi Award, which is given to graduate school doctoral course students who are pursuing outstanding research activities. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Meiji Kinen Museum around February 2024, and the winners will receive a certificate, a medal, and an additional 2 million yen in academic scholarships.
According to the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Ikushi Award is given to students who have excellent academic results in graduate school, are rich in humanity, and are enthusiastic and proactive in their research, with the aim of nurturing young researchers. The target area is all fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. This time, a committee selected 120 people in total (including one duplicate), 61 recommended by university presidents and 170 recommended by academic presidents, and 1 winners were selected.
