On February 2024, 2, students from the Inoue Seminar of the Department of Children's Studies, Faculty of Human Sciences, Kanazawa Seiryo University held a science workshop class at Kohoku Elementary School in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

The Department of Children's Studies, Faculty of Human Sciences, Kanazawa Seiryo University aims to become ``Children's Specialists'' who understand the various issues faced by ``children'' in local communities and can contribute to solving them. Focusing on active learning that encourages students' independent participation, the school collaborates with two affiliated kindergartens, elementary schools and child-related facilities in Kanazawa City, and provides practical education where students can learn from local and local professionals. In recent years, the department has also attracted attention as a department that engages in unique initiatives such as creative activities using ICT and collaborative projects with overseas countries.

This time, the Inoue seminar students visited Kohoku Elementary School, which is located on the shore of Shibayamagata. A science class was held for fourth graders on the theme of "the power of air." In order to have students experience the power of contraction of warmed air as it cools, we conducted an experiment in which a boiled egg was sucked into the flask as it cooled. All the seminar students worked together as a team to teach the class, hoping that the children would be able to enjoy the joy and excitement of learning about the mysteries of the world while encouraging them to engage in independent activities.

A seminar student who finished the class said, ``It was very rewarding to see the children engaged in the activities, asking questions such as ``Why!'' and ``Wow!'' with great interest. Afterwards, the children said, ``It was so much fun to be able to do experiments that we don't do at school.'' I was happy that I was able to give them an experience that wasn't in the textbook. Also, there is a university nearby in Kaga City. ``I think it was refreshing for the students to have a university student teach the class.'' ``While actually teaching the class, we were able to think about ``What is a better class?'' and find areas for improvement. By carefully observing the differences in the children's reactions, I was able to reflect on and rethink my own lessons, and I feel that it would be great if I could connect this to future workshop activities. We have been able to visit various elementary schools and hold workshop activities, and we have been able to grow together with the children, and I think this has been a great learning experience for us." It was.
