Amami Innovation Co., Ltd., a local company working on accommodation facility management and town planning by regenerating old private houses in Amami City, Kagoshima Prefecture, cooperated in joint research between Kyushu University and National Taiwan Normal University as a partner.Industry-academia collaboration will work to improve the tourism infrastructure of Amami Oshima, which is attracting attention as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage candidate.
Since 2017, the Institute of Economics, Kyushu University and the National Taiwan Normal University's Institute for Management of Exercise Fallows and Feasts have been conducting "joint research on promotion of tourism exchange between Japan and Taiwan."Amami Innovation Co., Ltd. will join the group as a partner, and from August 2019, we will carry out activities to attract inbound tourists from Taiwan and China to Amami Oshima.
In this project, four students and journalists selected by National Taiwan Normal University will stay in Amami Oshima from August 4, 2019 to the end of September 8.We will dig up tourism resources for tourists from Taiwan and China, lay the foundation for establishing a system for accepting tourists such as translating signatures, and disseminate information via the WEB.In addition, we plan to hold an exchange of opinions with local governments, tourism associations, people involved in the tourism industry, and local residents.
This is the first time in Japan that an overseas university and a Japanese university jointly carry out a project aimed at increasing inbound tourists by foreigners.It is expected that this activity on Amami Oshima will become a model that will be widely used to attract inbound tourists in tourist destinations nationwide in the future.
