From October 2019, 10, Tokyo University of Agriculture, in collaboration with Co-Cooking Co., Ltd., introduced the food sharing service "TABETE" to the cafeteria "Green" on the Setagaya campus. This is the first initiative of a university in Japan and aims to reduce food loss.

The food sharing service "TABETE" operated by Co-Cooking Co., Ltd. allows users to "deliciously" eat meals at restaurants that "have to throw away" even though they can still be eaten deliciously, such as when a sudden reservation is canceled. A mechanism to reduce food loss by purchasing at a reasonable price.Currently, about 20 users, mainly working women in their 40s and 16s, and about 320 restaurants and side dish stores are registered.

At Tokyo University of Agriculture, the student cafeteria (Co-op cafeteria) "Cafeteria Green" on the Setagaya campus has a corner that serves food in a buffet style, and the problem was that there were days when food was left over. Therefore, the university co-op exhibited the food left over from the buffet at "TABETE" and decided to have students and faculty members purchase it deliciously and profitably. In addition, posters and desktop POPs related to food loss reduction will be set up on the campus to raise awareness and raise awareness, and we will consider introducing them into the student cafeteria "Restaurant Keyaki" on the Atsugi campus.

“Reducing food loss” is also positioned in Goal 2016 “Sustainable consumption and production” (responsibility to create and use) of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which is an international goal from 2030 to 12.
