Waseda University will develop the "University Common Data Science Education Program" from 2021 so that students of all faculties and graduate schools can study "Data Science", and in order to present clear goals to students, the original certification system " Established "Data Science Certification System".
The "University-wide Data Science Education Program" allows approximately 5 students from all faculties and graduate schools to learn statistics and data science from the basics on demand 24 hours a day, regardless of their literary sciences. ..Learn not only the "theory" of data science, but also the "skills" for handling actual data and the way of thinking that connects knowledge in your own "specialty" field.In addition, since the experience of utilizing actual data is very important for data science, we will provide an opportunity to "practice data science" using actual data such as educational internships at partner companies and data science competitions.
The "Data Science Certification System", which guarantees the students' ability in data science, has four levels.Mainly "literacy level" to know data science as a culture, "beginner" to be able to use the basics and ideas of data science for research and work, "intermediate" to be able to utilize data science for one's own specialized research and work, and data science. Set goals for each class, as well as "advanced" that can be used for various tasks.Students can learn data science according to their proficiency level and interests.In addition, a certificate of completion will be issued to students who meet the requirements set by each class.In addition, literacy and beginners will be set up in 4, and intermediate certification will start in 2021, and advanced certification will start in 2022.
