Yamaguchi University School of Medicine and Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science Faculty of Pharmacy have entered into an agreement for a multidisciplinary collaborative education program in which students aiming for different professions can study in the same place, aiming to develop team medical skills. Starting in 2024, we will be taking a ``Medical Environment Theory'' class together to learn about medicine, nursing, testing, and pharmacy.
According to Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science, the agreement signing ceremony was held at the Yamaguchi University School of Medicine in Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Yamaguchi University's Dean of Medicine, Akira Shinoda, and Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dean Ken Takeda, signed and exchanged the agreement. After this, Professor Katsuhiro Yorioka of Yamaguchi Tokyo University of Science's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences explained the outline of the agreement.
Sitting at the desks in the medical environment theory class are third-year students in the Department of Medicine at Yamaguchi University School of Medicine, second-year students majoring in nursing in the School of Health Sciences, third-year students majoring in laboratory technology, and fourth-year students in the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Yamaguchi University of Science. Students engage in discussions and presentations based on a wide range of lectures, deepening their understanding of different industries. Lectures are scheduled at both campuses.
Collaboration among doctors, nurses, clinical laboratory technicians, and pharmacists is essential for smooth team medical care. We are starting a collaborative education program because we believe that it is necessary for students to deepen their understanding of other professions that are part of team medical care, and to develop their skills.
